Tim Peake in Space – a Bishop’s Hull Hub event.Follow John Hunt on Social Media:
For this month’s article I thought it would be nice to report on the Bishop’s Hull Hub’s fundraising event, ‘Tim Peake in Space’, held on the 12th January in the Village Hall.
In excess of 200 people turned up to listen to a talk given by leading space expert and former Columbus mission-controller, Libby Jackson.
Libby told us all about Tim Peake’s time in space and the science experiments he did on the International Space Station.
It was my great pleasure to introduce Libby to the audience, many of whom were children, who were absolutely fascinated by all that she had to say. I have to say how impressed we all were by the depth of knowledge shown by the children,
Libby, who was kind enough to give her time for free, was very happy to take questions at the end of her presentation. In fact, there were so many from children and adults alike, that we almost ran out of time.
At the end, Libby signed copies of her inspirational book ‘A Galaxy of her Own’, about women who made space travel possible.
A message from the Hub team: “Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun today and especially to Libby Jackson for donating her time to inspire us and satisfy our curiosities about space! There are lots of budding young astronauts in Taunton now!”.
I’d like to thank all the Hub Trustees and volunteers for making this wonderful event possible.
