For regular readers of the Community News, you’ll be aware of the upcoming plans to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with events running from the 2nd – 5th June 2022. Each event will be led by a lead volunteer together with a support team and coordinated by David Gurr.

Having previously arranged our village Christmas dinner dances, it seemed logical for me to organise an evening dinner dance event during the celebrations. Naturally, this will only be achievable because of our amazing team of volunteers who have once again offered their services and I’d like to thank them in advance for ‘stepping-up’. The event will take place on Saturday 4th June 2022.

We are still in the early stages of planning the ‘Jubilee Dinner Dance’ however, I did want to give you the date for your diaries and to offer you the opportunity to express an interest in attending, prior to tickets going on-sale.

The Dinner Dance will be open to Bishop’s Hull residents together with their guests and will be ticket only. Here’s a rough guide to what’s planned…

  • Location: To be held using both a marquee on the playing field and The Hub
  • Arrival time: 19:00 for 19:30
  • A glass of Bucks Fizz or Orange Juice on arrival.
  • You’ll be seated on a table of 8 people and enjoy a cold buffet style two course meal.
  • Coming on you own? No problem, you will be made very welcome.
  • There will be a bottle of white and red wine on each table.
  • Live music.
  • Disco music will play when the band are taking a break.
  • BYO (bring your own) drinks, this will dramatically reduce the overall cost.
  • There may be a bar serving Beer, lager and cider.
  • Dress code – The theme will of course be themed on the Jubilee. Smart but use your imagination.
  • Tickets will be priced in the region of £20-£25 each.

Please note, all of the above is only a guide as to what to expect and is subject to change.

This is not a fund raiser, however any profits that are made from the event will be distributed to our local charitable trusts.

This will be a popular event, so if interested please let me have your details in advance and I’ll make sure you receive notice as soon as the tickets go on sale. Email me:

Take care

John Hunt
