Police incident in Gillards on Thursday 29th March 2018.Follow John Hunt on Social Media:
Several of you have contacted me showing obvious concern about armed police being called to an incident in Gillards, Bishops Hull just after 9am this morning. Speaking to the officers attending, they told me they were armed due to information received and assured me that the area is now completely safe.
The incident involved an elderly resident in one of the bungalows who had an unwanted guest trying to take advantage of them.
The police arrived promptly, making an arrest at the property. They told me the resident is okay and is in the temporary care of the police.
Clearly the police are unable to give out further information at this stage and have distributed explanatory leaflets through resident’s doors.
Some of you may have children at nearby Wyvern Nursery. I’ve been to see the manager there and although they were made aware of the incident by the police, they are unaffected and all is well.
I’d like to thank the Avon and Somerset Police for their prompt and calm response to this situation.
I’ve not taken photos of this incident, as I feel it would inappropriate.
