Bishop’s Hull Platinum Jubilee celebrations – Saturday 4th June.
Our major question at the start of the day was, would the rain stay away?
Thankfully it did and our three events were a great success.
At 10am around 40 people met outside the Hub to take part in our superbly organised Jubilee Trail.
The guided walk was approximately 4 miles in length, stopping of at Roughmoor Farm for an interesting talk from Gill and Mike, followed by a visit to Longaller Mill, where our hosts Sam and Jon gave a guided tour, which included the workings of the mill itself. Our walking party was joined by a further 30 residents to enjoy the refreshments provided, and yes you’ve guessed it…..lots more cake.
At 2pm Bishops Hull Cricket Club, thoroughly entertained us with a friendly match between teams lead by Nick Keeble and Paul Bulbeck. Refreshments were kindly provided by our local WI…..with even more cake
During much of the afternoon, our enthusiastic team of volunteers gathered in the Bishops Hull Hub and Marquee to set up for the evening’s Dinner Dance.
7pm. Time for the Themed Jubilee Dance. Our volunteer team arrived just after 6pm to make the necessary last minute preparations and were ready to receive guests as they arrived between 7 and 7:30. Each was served a glass of orange juice or Prosecco on arrival.
Before taking our seats for Dinner, we had a game of ‘heads or tails’ with prizes to the two winner.
The ‘Loyal Toast’ was made, pudding served and the evening ended with both young and young at heart, dancing the night away.
As ever, a mass clear-up was done at the end by our volunteer group.
To say that it was a memorable day would be a huge understatement. Once again, a massive thank you to ‘Team Bishop’s Hull’ our incredible band of volunteers. Without your selfless help and support none of this would be possible.
Below are a selection of images from the day, I didn’t get the chance to take many photos at the dinner dance, as was having far too much fun.
Take care
John
