Jane’s doing her ‘bit’ for Bishop’s HullFollow John Hunt on Social Media:
For next month’s Community News article (March 2016), I popped down to ‘Frank’s Cafe’ at the Frank Bond Centre, to meet up with local resident Jane Gurr.
Jane was born in Taunton and married former Somerset cricketer, David, in 1979. Having left the area, it was always their intention to return to Taunton and they moved into Bishop’s Hull in 2009.
A keen local volunteer, Jane become a trustee at the Frank Bond Centre in 2011 and together with other trustees, aims to make the Centre a friendly, welcoming place for people to meet. And an excellent job they’re doing too.
In 2010 to 2013 Jane and David hosted and organised the hugely successful Christmas Market at their home in Netherclay, with help from local builder Roy Sweet and butcher, Tim Pope. The event attracted over 300 people and raised a lot of money for the local Church and St Margaret’s.
Jane accepted the shared role of Warden, at the village Church in May 2015. Her role includes pastoral work with the community and to look after the fabric of the Church.
Amazingly, Jane still has time to walk her dogs and exercise race horses for a local trainer.
